Nicholas Préaud & Charlotte Taylor
The Atibaia Chair
An essential Rocking Chair. This chair is a balance in design between elegant and primal modernist gems, the rawness of materials of antique pieces, and geometric clear-cut minimalist furniture.
The Atibaia Chair combines comfort with its delicate, airy essence, as well as a strong sculptural presence in the room with it's heavy Oak wood framework. This chair was designed and prototyped in France, to furnish Casa Atibaia as well as to be manufactured and sold in a limited ten piece series.
Through built architectural projects, interior and furniture design, physical installations, research and development in construction, as well as digital art, Nicholas Préaud's work converges into a vast and unclassifiable contemporary discipline. This discipline seeks, through research and development, to challenge our lifestyles, our ways of interacting with our environment, and with each other. It questions the traditional deployment of architectural creative processes. Now based in Stockholm, Nicholas Préaud explores ways to connect the imagination to the reality of built architecture. The freedom of research provided by these projects fuels his creativity to break the boundaries between what exists in the digital world and the physical world. Some of his projects touch on abstraction, works that feed into constant research, with or without a commission. These projects contribute to making the practice evolve where possible, attempting to provide innovative solutions that can ultimately be used by all. To question the expanded role that architects can have in society, beyond the development and management of projects.
Studio Charlotte Taylor creates interiors and spaces that blend the sculptural with the practical; the futuristic with comfort. Exploring the boundaries between digital and the physical, the studio utilizes ultra-realistic visual renders to reimagine real-world interiors. Pushing conventional rules and reimagining the tangible, the result is a unique signature vision, process and style.
