VELAS, Portugal, Porto, 2024
Temporary Installation
The project is based on Porto’s rabelo boats, introducing a series of vertical flowing surfaces on the facade of the ViaCatarina shopping mall, continuously distorting it. The project is inspired by this symbol and, more precisely, by its candles to develop an installation based on the essence of the city itself. Using a brighter material than the simple fabric of the original sails, the upper part of the facade is covered in a series of fabric elements, capable of lightly reflecting the surrounding buildings, people and the sky. The entire fabric, suspended on the facade, remains in constant movement, in a perpetual dance with the wind - always changing shape and composition on the shopping mall's facade.
