ICE FOREST, 2025

Temporary Installation

Surrounded by ice and snow, the temporary pavilion is almost invisible – only perceivable by a visual distortion created by the superposition of multiple vertical lines, that redirect the wind and reshape the landscape in its site.
Erected by 9 steel columns, a net holds lines of white nylon that are sufficiently light and able to hold humidity and snow, progressively creating an array of ice columns that contrast with the horizontal landscape. With a footprint of a 9x9m square, the lines are dispersed around a circular center that provides not only a shelter but also a meditative space, where one can see the exterior through the filter of light frozen columns. To find the center, each visitor must find and create their own path, as exploring an unknown forest.
Through the duration of its presence, the pavilion will hold more and more ice, further changing its spatiality and providing new experiences.
